Children's beds (18)

Questions and answers

Children's beds

What makes a Nizio children's bed special?
It is a low solid wood bed designed for the youngest children. The low construction allows the child to get in and out independently and reduces the risk of falling, while the front safety rails protect a small child during sleep. We make the bed exclusively from solid pine wood, oak wood, or a combination of both — without MDF or particleboard. It is available in two models, eight finishes, and a wide range of mattress sizes.
How low is the children's bed?
The bed is 36 cm high, measured to the top edge. This low construction allows the child to lie down and get up independently, and any possible fall from the sleeping surface happens from a low height. The legs have a cross-section of 5.7×5.7 cm. The low profile also makes it easier for the child to make the bed independently and play safely near the furniture.
Is the children's bed suitable for a Montessori-style room?
The low construction, 36 cm high, allows the child to lie down and get up independently without adult help, which follows the principles of Montessori education, focused on independence and freedom of movement. The front safety rails protect younger children during sleep, and when the child grows up, they can be unscrewed. The bed does not have a formal “Montessori” certificate — the term does not have one official definition — but the low profile and independent access reflect this idea.
What are the differences between models N01 and N02?
They differ in the entry layout. In model N01, the entry is in the middle, and the safety rails protect the sleeping area on both sides. In model N02, the entry is on the side — left or right, with the side chosen during assembly to match the bed’s position in the room. Apart from that, the load-bearing structure, low height, weight capacity, available finishes, and sizes are identical in both models.
Does the bed have safety rails to prevent falls?
Yes. The bed is equipped with front safety rails that protect the child from falling out during sleep. They can be easily unscrewed when the child grows up and no longer needs them, allowing the furniture to adapt to the next stages of development without replacing the entire bed. The rails are made from the same solid wood as the structure.
From what age is this bed suitable?
The bed is designed for the youngest children, including the transition from a baby cot — the low height and front safety rails provide security at this stage. As the child grows, the rails can be removed, while the wide range of mattress sizes and 200 kg weight capacity allow the bed to be used for many more years of childhood.
What mattress sizes fit a children's bed?
The bed is available in sizes starting from 70×140 cm — suitable for the youngest children — as well as widths of 80, 90, 100, and 120 cm and lengths of 180, 190, and 200 cm. The external dimensions are 8 cm larger than the mattress: for a 70×140 cm mattress, the bed measures 148 cm long and 78 cm wide. The slatted base made of three permanently bonded frame sections is included in the price; the mattress is selected separately.
What types of wood and finishes are available for the children's bed?
We make the bed exclusively from solid pine wood, oak wood, or a combination of both — without MDF or particleboard. Eight finishes are available: white, grey, white/oak, black/oak, clear pine, natural pine, natural oak, and bleached oak. Upon request, we can paint the bed in any color from the RAL or NCS palette. The coatings are made using certified water-based paints compliant with EN 71-3 and safe for contact with a child’s skin.
Is the children's bed safe and does it comply with safety standards?
Yes. The bed complies with EN 1725 for beds and mattress supports, and the finish is made with water-based paints compliant with EN 71-3. All edges are rounded, and the connections are free from visible screws. The low construction, front safety rails, and solid wood without engineered wood boards further increase safety for children.
How is a children's bed assembled?
Assembly is simple and intuitive — it takes around 15 minutes and can easily be done by one person. The furniture is delivered with a complete set of premium fittings, screws, and clear instructions. The fittings are designed for repeated assembly and disassembly without losing stability, and the front rails can be removed using the same tools when they are no longer needed.
What payment methods are available, and can I buy on installments?
Available payment methods and installment options are shown in the cart before checkout. The available methods depend on the delivery country — different payment providers and installment programs are supported in different countries, so the purchase can be paid in installments wherever this option is available. The system will show the current options for your country based on the delivery address.
How much does a children's bed cost, and what affects the price?
The price of each variant is shown on the product page in your local market currency. It depends on the model (N01 or N02), selected finish, and mattress size — the larger the size, the higher the price. Lacquered finishes are the most affordable, while oak finishes are the most expensive. Production takes 2–3 weeks, and you have 100 days to return the product without giving a reason.
Do you deliver children's beds internationally?
Yes. We ship children’s beds throughout Europe on pallets that protect the furniture during transport. Individual packages are carefully packed. For Poland, Germany, and Austria, an additional room-of-choice delivery option is available in the cart.
What happens if the furniture arrives damaged?
The risk of damage is minimal thanks to pallet transport and careful packaging. Upon delivery, we recommend checking the shipment and taking photos if anything seems questionable. If any element turns out to be damaged, contact us — we will send a replacement without requiring the return of the entire bed. Checking the shipment with the courier helps with the process, but does not limit the right to report damage later.
Can I order wood or color samples before purchasing?
Yes. Upon request, we send samples so you can assess the color and wood grain in person before choosing a specific finish or custom RAL/NCS color. This is useful if you want to match the bed to your child’s room. To receive samples, contact us and let us know which finishes you are interested in.
